Are you ready, Portland? It's time for our annual spring concert.
The Portland Interfaith Gospel Choir is heading north! We will be performing in Washington state on May 23rd for a fundraiser featuring six choirs from the area, all led by our own director, LaRhonda Steele.
The fundraiser benefits Fish Emergency Services, an all volunteer non-profit that helps people in financial emergencies. Fish provides more than 200,000 meals annually, assists with utility bills, medications, medical and dental services, and more. It is one of the most accessible emergency agencies serving the Portland area. They also encourage and develop community connections for people to take action when a neighbor needs help due to illness, loneliness, old age, blindness, loss of employment, and educational opportunity, among others.
This is a great event for residents in Washington or a good opportunity to road trip and help a worthy cause. The concert will be held on Monday, May 23rd at the renovated Columbia Theater in Longview, Washington. Show starts at 7pm. You can find more details on our Concert Calendar page or via the Columbia Theater website.
The holidays may be over but PIGC is still hard at work. We have two more performances to conclude our fall/winter season. What a season it's been! Thanks to all of you that have supported us this year.
Our final two performances will both be in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The first is our annual spot on Portland's longest running MLK Day event: "Victory Beyond the Dream."
You can catch us live at the Highland Christian Center Campus located at 7600 NE Glisan in Portland on Monday, January 18th. PIGC should hit the stage between 4-5pm. This day long event is also broadcast on local cable channels. Please check your local listings if you'd like to watch this wonderful event on t.v.
Our second and final performance will be on Wednesday, January 20th at Western Oregon University in Monmouth. This MLK event will include several Oregon-based choirs and mass choir pieces.
Our rehearsals and new spring term will begin on Monday, February 1st. We are casting the net into the community once again and holding an open audition for all voices.
If you are interested in joining the choir, please attend one of our two open rehearsals. The first will be held Monday, February 1st and the second on Monday, February 8th.
Rehearsal starts at 6:30pm, auditions will begin around 7:30/8:00pm. Feel free to come early and check us out. We ask that those auditioning please be prepared to sing a brief solo piece, match notes, move in rhythm, and harmonize.
Auditions will be held at our normal rehearsal space:
Portland Center for Spiritual Living
6211 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd
We hope to see you all soon!
